WEEKEND COURSE
Childbirth preparation in English
Practical. Personal. Supportive.
In Berlin-Charlottenburg or online

Preparing for birth is about more than collecting information. It’s about understanding what happens during labour, discovering what helps you feel safe and supported, and learning how to approach birth together.
In my English-speaking weekend course in Berlin-Charlottenburg, we combine practical knowledge, hands-on exercises, breathing and relaxation techniques, and honest conversations.
Whether you’re feeling excited, curious, nervous or a little bit of everything, you’re warmly welcome.

What to Expect
We begin by getting to know each other in a relaxed atmosphere. Then we explore the fascinating process of birth through practical demonstrations, exercises and discussion.
Understanding Birth
How does a baby actually move through the pelvis? What happens during contractions? How does labour progress, and how long can it take?
We’ll explore the different stages of labour, vaginal birth, Caesarean birth and induction of labour. We’ll also talk about preparing for birth, drawing on scientific evidence and my experience as a midwife.
You’ll learn how to recognise the first signs of labour, what you can do at home during early labour and when to contact your birth team.
Practical Tools for Labour
A central part of the weekend is discovering what you can actually do to make labour more manageable.
We’ll practise breathing techniques, helpful positions, movement and non-medical pain-relief methods. I’ll teach you a particular breathing technique and guide you through meditation and relaxation exercises that may be useful during birth.
We’ll also discuss medical pain-relief options, so you can better understand the choices available to you.
Massage & Partner Support
Your partner or chosen birth companion is an active part of the course.
Together, you’ll practise hands-on massage techniques, comforting touch, supportive positions and practical ways to provide physical and emotional reassurance during labour.
We’ll explore how your companion can support you during contractions, help create a calm environment and be involved throughout the birth experience.
There is also time for separate conversations with pregnant participants and companions, offering space for personal questions and experiences.
Preparing for the Hospital
We’ll talk about the practical details that can make the beginning of labour feel less overwhelming.
What should you pack in your hospital bag? What might you need during labour? What can you prepare beforehand?
You’ll receive practical guidance to help you feel organised and ready.
After Birth: Your First Days Together
On the second day, we turn our attention to the special time after your baby arrives.
We’ll talk about the first hours and days with your newborn, recovery after birth, your baby’s needs and the transition into parenthood.
Breastfeeding is an important focus. We’ll explore how breastfeeding works, how to get started, feeding cues and ways to make those early days more comfortable.
A Weekend with Space for You
Although we cover many topics, the course is not just about listening.
There is plenty of time to ask questions, practise together, exchange experiences and take breaks. Snacks are provided, and we have a longer lunch break.
My aim is not to present one perfect way to give birth. I want you to leave with a clearer understanding of birth, practical skills and more confidence in your ability to navigate your own experience.
